Aftermath
The mourners gathered at the wake
like all monochrome half-mast poles,
some still wave torn banners for victim’s sake -
And yet some protest and cry at the foot of a wreath
and the chameleons come creeping from their holes:
to debate the icy tip and
to ignore the mountains underneath -
Where we remain divided and insist to be
united in grief.
'There will come a day when we will all stand together and gaze upon the aftermath of our indifference, our ignorance and how color killed kindness across the world.'
